CHARLOTTE, NC — Queen City area high school students longing for prom but short on cash will have an opportunity to pick out a free prom dress or tux this weekend, thanks to a Charlotte area radio station.
The "Prom-Ject Glam" event, sponsored by WSOC 103.7, will give away about 5,000 prom dresses Saturday, March 10 at SouthPark Mall in Charlotte.
"Each young lady will have the opportunity to choose a dress for their very own," say event organizers.
It’s not all for the ladies, however. Fellas will be able to score free tux rentals from Men’s Warehouse, according to Fox 46.
"For four successful years, our New 1037 Project Glam has offered local girls the opportunity to find that perfect dress that they might not have been able to afford, so they get to look glamorous on prom night," WSOC operations manager DJ Stout told the station.
Also on hand at the event will be food trucks and entertainment, WSOC said.
The Saturday event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at SouthPark Mall, located at 4400 Sharon Road.
